Hideo Kojima is returning to Night City in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding will reprise his role as Hideyoshi Oshima, a character previously seen in Cyberpunk 2077. Hideo Kojima Returns as Hideyoshi Oshima
Players may remember Hideyoshi Oshima from the Konpeki Plaza section of Cyberpunk 2077. He appears during “The Heist” mission as a Japanese braindance director.
Braindance is a technology in the Cyberpunk universe that allows people to experience recorded memories and sensations. Oshima discusses his work during his appearance in the game, making him a memorable cameo for players who spot him.
Now, Kojima is bringing the character back for the anime’s second season. He will once again voice Hideyoshi Oshima, connecting the game and its animated adaptation.

The second season introduces a new cast and a standalone story set in Night City. The series is produced by CD Projekt Red and animation studio TRIGGER, with a 10-episode story centred on themes of revenge and redemption.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix on October 20, 2026, with all 10 episodes available to stream.
Kojima’s return adds another connection to the game for longtime fans. However, the creators have not disclosed how much screen time his character will receive.
